Wayne Rooney’s Writing hasn’t Pleased Everyone
By: Bob | September 1st, 2006
We’ll admit that we haven’t sat down to read the first volume of Wayne Rooney’s autobiography yet. We have it on our list of things to read somewhere after the manual for our new refrigerator and before Andorra’s tax code. But some people are reading the 20-year-old’s story and at least one is not so fond of what he has read.
Rooney’s former manager at Everton, David Moyes, is threatening to sue the Manchester United star because he doesn’t like some of the language he came across in the book’s excerpts, which were published in the Daily Mirror newspaper. Specifically, the notion that Moyes “forced” Rooney out of Everton. Said Moyes’ lawyer Mel Goldberg:
“At this stage, no proceedings have been issued against Wayne Rooney, for various reasons – the book has got to be fully read and David Moyes has to consider whether that is something he wants to do.
“If he does choose to go down that route, then the publisher Harper Collins would be named on the writ and probably Wayne Rooney as well.”
Moyes has himself a tough choice. Ignore the book, save himself a few hours of misery and let his good name be besmirched or read the book, suffer with every word and try to get Rooney to fork over enough money to make up for those reading hours he will never, ever get back.
By the way, the notion that Moyes forced Rooney out of Everton is absurd and we don’t even need to read a book to tell you that.
