Mitre “Pass It On” with Viral Video

By: Daryl | August 11th, 2007

Not to be overshadowed by the glitzy Premiership and their official swoosh balls, the Championship has teamed up with its own ball supplier Mitre. The result is 24 bespoke balls for the 24 Championship clubs, raising the inevitable question: what the hell does bespoke mean? If you click that link, it basically means custom designed. So every Championship club will play with a matchball in their colours this season, which I think is pretty neat.

To celebrate, Mitre have put together this “Pass It On” viral video campaign, basically a spoof of many of their more famous and more swooshy competitor’s high profile campaigns. For example, the video begins with Ipswich Town’s Danny Haynes unsuccessfully recreating Ronaldinho’s cross bar trick, and ends with Watford’s Marlon King doing Wayne Rooney’s target thingy, only from very very close range.

In the age of millionaire footballers and deadly serious sponsors it’s nice to see Mitre and these Championship players refusing to take it all too seriously.
