The All-Time Fan’s Favourite Player of Every League Club in England
By: Daryl | December 20th, 2007
The Professional Footballer’s Association, the player’s union for English footballers, is 100 years old. To celebrate their centenary they’ve been polling supporters of every single football league club in England (plus a few former league clubs) to find the all-time biggest hero for each team. The best thing about this list is that it’s not populated by the players du jour, suggesting football fans aren’t as fooled by the modern media onslaught as you might expect. The majority of favourites are players who were loyal servants, like big-nosed goalkeeper Steve Ogrizovic who played over 500 games for Coventry City or mavericks with entertainment value like Stan Bowles (pictured) who’s beloved by QPR and Brentford fans. Or in the case of Matt Le Tissier at Southampton, both. Complete list after the jump.
