Jose Mourinho is starting to Sound like Don Corleone

medium_don_corleone.jpgMaybe it is the new tough guy haircut or maybe he is just tired of that sunny California weather. Whatever it is, Chelsea coach apparently thinks that he is the head of a mafia household.

Witness these words that Mourinho said today regarding defender William Gallas’ being a no-show at Chelsea’s North American marketing/training camp:

“It’s not only me that is upset – we’re all upset. Everybody is upset because we had a strong family and a strong group and this has shown a lack of respect to everybody and I don’t like that.”

You can almost picture him sitting across from Gallas, gun in hand, before he offs the Frenchman or at least informs him that he has already given away Gallas’ lucky shirt number 13.

Then there is this witticism from Mourinho about his new signing Mikel John Obi:

“Mikel John Obi is Mikel John Obi. I hope the brain helps and I believe the brain will help him in the next couple of years become one of the best players in the world. I hope the brain, the personality, the character can help because his football is amazing.”

Yes, Jose Mourinho is Jose Mourinho and Jose Mourinho is the new Don Corleone.

Come on Bob. I love your blogs but when will you get off your anti-Mourinho trip? What's a coach to say when a player fails to honor his committments to his club? The image you conjure up is kinda of funny though. :-)
