The Ultimate Guide to Premiership Previews
By: Bob | August 16th, 2006
The Premiership in England starts this weekend and all around the world people are dusting off their Watford jerseys in anticipation of nine months of fun and frivolity. We’re excited about the start of the Prem as anyone, just not as excited as the many, many folks who have crafted previews about the upcoming season.
Instead of sitting down and writing our thoughts about each of the 20 teams, we decided to gather some of the best information out there from other sources. They did the work. We all get the benefits. If only everything else in life was so easy.
For those who are looking to cut to the chase, the BBC has its usual handy, dandy capsule summary of each team. Pay no attention to their verdicts, but do use it to keep track of who is in and who has departed from each team.
Along these lines is Soccernet, which paid its staff to do a preview of each team. These are refreshingly honest and at times harsh so well worth a glance if you aren’t a fan of one of the teams they get all harsh on.
That’s On Point earns kudos for crafting the best preview of any blog we have seen. With his usual flair for the unusual, Mike Cardillo breaks down each team and does so with personality and opinion. Plus he uses video, something Soccernet doesn’t know is invented yet.
Worldfootballers is all about cutting to the chase and doesn’t go very far out on a limb with its predictions. Sky Sport’s Andy Gray gives his predictable predictions and The Times follows suit and by this point you might just be exhausted about reading about Chelseabeing the team to beat.
Tech Digest thankfully makes no predictions and instead focuses on the top ten gadgets you need for the Premiership season. None of them would be considered life necessities, but considering the hours you will put in over the next few months watching grown men kick a ball the term “necessity” takes on a whole new meaning.
Have you come across any other valuable Premiership previews? Go ahead and add the link in our comments field. There is no such thing as information overload.
