Wayne Rooney’s Writing hasn’t Pleased Everyone
By: Bob | September 1st, 2006
We’ll admit that we haven’t sat down to read the first volume of Wayne Rooney’s autobiography yet. We have it on our list of things to read somewhere after the manual for our new refrigerator and before Andorra’s tax code. But some people are reading the 20-year-old’s story and at least one is not so fond of what he has read.
Rooney’s former manager at Everton, David Moyes, is threatening to sue the Manchester United star because he doesn’t like some of the language he came across in the book’s excerpts, which were published in the Daily Mirror newspaper. Specifically, the notion that Moyes “forced” Rooney out of Everton. Said Moyes’ lawyer Mel Goldberg:
“At this stage, no proceedings have been issued against Wayne Rooney, for various reasons - the book has got to be fully read and David Moyes has to consider whether that is something he wants to do.
“If he does choose to go down that route, then the publisher Harper Collins would be named on the writ and probably Wayne Rooney as well.”
Moyes has himself a tough choice. Ignore the book, save himself a few hours of misery and let his good name be besmirched or read the book, suffer with every word and try to get Rooney to fork over enough money to make up for those reading hours he will never, ever get back.
By the way, the notion that Moyes forced Rooney out of Everton is absurd and we don’t even need to read a book to tell you that.

John - if you didn’t find it funny and ridiculous, that would put you in the “only person” camp.
Beyond the fact that it is nuts for a 20 year old to write a biography. Let’s recall that we are talking about a man known for frequenting brothels at 16, kicking other players in the sack and generally being an english version of a redneck/ghetto d-bag. Lets be sure use the word “write” carefully.
And yes, David Moyes, a young, mid-table manager, trying to make a name for himself and possibly score a shot with the big boys (and big contract) forced his one true prodigy out. Yeah. And Red Aurbach poisoned Len Bias.
I get sick of Wayne getting press. can’t there be a spiritual penalty box for people like him, his fiance colleen, britney spears, k-fed, terrell owens etc to go where we as a society say no matter what DUMB thing you say or think, we will not publish the comments or further your fame and reputation. Wouldn’t that be nice then i could stop writing this dumb post and wasting time at work…
