Buy An Expensive Car, Risk Getting Locked In The Trunk
By: chris | August 11th, 2009
The late great Christopher Wallace once said, “Mo’ money, mo’ problems” – and ain’t that the truth (mm hmm, preach it). Lille attacker Pierre-Alain Frau is coming around to this line of thinking as well, what with spending late Sunday night in the boot of his Mercedes whilst it was being stolen and all.
Frau had just dropped off his babysitter when he was stopped by what appeared to be a police car, only four masked men got out demanding his keys, cash and cards (not that this prevents them from being policemen in these rough and tumble economic times). They then locked Alain into the boot of his own car and drove him across town, where the let him go unharmed. Tough financial losses, but the word “unharmed” isn’t typically found in sentences with “locked in the boot of his own car”, so all is truly well and good.
Perhaps the best part is that during the robbery, the thieves recognized him and began to apologize, which would lead one to believe there’s a chance one of the four may have been Lille fans. Imagine they might feel pretty sheepish the next time they’re cheering on Lille.
But the strangest part comes in that this isn’t Frau’s first dance. This is the second time within the last 10 months that he’s been carjacked. Now I won’t pretend to know a great deal about the city of Lille, but it being one of the carjacking capitals of northern France wasn’t on the list of possibilities.
And with this we come up with another well-worn truism for M. Frau: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice…and it’s time to forget Mercedes and spring for a Peugeot.
