Glad you mentioned Brilliant Orange with regards to that list, Martha. American soccer fans should also get hold of David Wangerin’s “Soccer in a Football World” if they can (sadly it’s only been published in the UK), to add a U.S.-related essential recommendation.
Oh, and “All Played Out” by Pete Davies is brilliant, too.
