Presumably, drop kicking a referee is now illegal in France

By: Bob | October 10th, 2006

French legislators today passed a new law today to address the scourge on society known as attacks on sports referees. The new law makes it a punishable offense of up to five years in jail and a fine of 75,000 euros if a person is convicted of causing injuries to a referee that result in a work stoppage of over eight days. Let this be a lesson to us all. If you are going to run out of the stands and kick the crap out of a referee, make sure he only misses seven days of work
