Wow, that's really gushy, isn't it? It also doesn't quite capture what I feel. What I found myself thinking after the game wasn't, "The US dominated." Because even the most optimistic person couldn't say that. It was more along the lines of, "I'm now seeing the <em>potential</em> for the US to dominate, at some time in the future." I saw moments that could be combined and added to, to create a full game of flowing, attacking, winning play. It left me hopeful for what's yet to come. (And I'm sorry. Posts like this are what happen when I'm hurrying to get something written so I can go watch the African Cup of Nations final. Won't happen again. The US only got the ball across the field through passing, while Mexican players sliced through opponents half of the time (especially Salcido, a defender) and played without being nervous and pressured like they always do in these games. I personally think both teams got lucky, like when Dempsey's goal wasn't counted, and the fact that the US didn't get scored on in the last 20 or so minutes when Mexico was on fire. Both teams have great potential, but the US will have no shot if this Mexican squad is better than it already is. Mexico completely outplayed the US. Our defense was also asleep or something, Mexico got like 20 shots at us. I don't think we played better than mexico, i thnk we have a lot of improvement to undergo and i don't think its time for praise.
