Beckham and Landycakes Sitting in a Tree…

Beckham and Landycakes sitting in a tree Remember all the talk about whether David Beckham and Landon Donovan could play together? Landycakes was going to be jealous of Becks’ celebrity and there was going to be an almighty battle for both set pieces and the captain’s armband.

But last night against San Jose Earthquakes it all went very smoothly. First Donovan put Beckham through on goal, and old Goldenballs slipped it between Joe Cannon’s legs to break his MLS duck. Then Becks played a through ball for Landycakes, who (with a little help from an indecisive Ryan Cochrane) lobbed it over Cannon for Galaxy’s second. And to celebrate they struck this PR-perfect pose. Video of the goals below:

The talk about Landon being jealous of Beckham being around was all a bunch of hogwash in the first place. He has avoided the spotlight and pressure of stardom is whole life. Why all the sudden would he have a problem with not being "the man?"
