Dallas Roma FC First Victim of The Offside Curse

By: Bob | August 2nd, 2006

romala.jpgYesterday we introduced a new feature on The Offside, Fan for a Match. Pretty nifty since it was really our first day of blogging on this site, but not so nifty for the team that we adopted, Dallas Roma FC.

The amateur team from Texas had our full backing heading into last night’s US Open Cup fourth round match against the LA Galaxy, but even with our enormous support the good guys came up short 2-0.

Not a bad result considering most of the Roma players hold down real day jobs and really not a bad result if you consider their goalkeeper is a mere 46 years old.

Still, this does not bode well for future teams that we select for Fan for a Match. The Offside curse has already begun.

If you have a team that you’d like us to adopt for a match or simply know of a great story, crank up your computer and fire off an email to bob [at] worldcupblog.org. One of these days I might actually get a nifty Offside email address like the rest of the cool kids.

I don’t suppose you could adopt, oh I don’t know, maybe the Dallas Cowboys?

    Whoops, wrong kind of football…
