If you’re not a fan of Major League Soccer, then today is one of those days that might persuade you otherwise. Because the league just named its MLS All-Star XI. I personally love the MLS All-Star concept, because it’s more than just a hypothetical. This is an actual All-Star team that will suit up and face Man Utd in Houston on July 28th.

Votes were collected from media, fans, players and coaches, and then a final XI assembled based on the results. That XI is as follows:

Keeper: Donovan Rickets (LA Galaxy)

Defenders: Chad Marshall (Columbus Crew), Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), Jámison Olave (Real Salt Lake)

Midfielders: Dwayne de Rosario (Toronto FC), Guillermo Barros Schelotto (Columbus Crew), Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Javier Morales (Real Salt Lake), Marco Pappa (Chicago Fire)

Forwards: Edson Buddle (LA Galaxy), Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy)

LA Galaxy’s Bruce Arena will coach the team, with Houston Dynamo’s Dominic Kinnear his assistant. A further 12 players will be selected (10 by the coaches, two by MLS Commish Don Garber) to make up a squad of 23. Then MLS’ finest will face Man Utd on July 28th, as part of Man Utd’s North American tour.
