I know he wasn't very good. But he wasn't put in a good position, either. He's a baseball guy. Baseball guys shouldn't be doing soccer. But ESPN fell for the same marketing mistake that MLS did when MLS said, "Let's cater to non-soccer fans and bring them in" instead of catering to the loyal soccer fan who wants an enhanced experience. So O'Brien, who's a pro, did the best he could. But he's not a soccer guy. Not his fault. You wouldn't ask a ball-winning central defender to play attacking mid.
