Q & As with Chivas USA Blogger Alex
By: Laurie | March 13th, 2008
Yes, that is our own Chivas blogger Alex in the photo with Chivas striker Maykel Galindo. And here are some questions and answers so you can get to know Alex a little better.
Favorite team besides the one you blog on?
I have a secret crush on Real Madrid. The team is great and the games are readily available.
The player you’d most like to kick a ball around with ?
Alecko Eskandarian. He seems like a cool guy. He was a fan favorite in DC, he blogs, and he’s personable. I’m tempted to invite him to our indoor soccer games. Not sure Preki would like that.
Favorite ice cream?
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.
Favorite on-the-field formation (4-4-2, 4-3-3, etc.)?
4-4-2 with a diamond in the middle.
Cats or dogs?
Neither. I have a turtle. A Russian Tortoise to be precise. She’s awesome, and likes soccer too.
Favorite non-Offside soccer blog (because obviously we’re your favorite)
Korner Pocket with Jaime Cardenas… RIP. Unfortunately this blog was recently put to sleep. But I will never let go of the good times we had.
Last DVD you watched
Not sure I’m allowed to mention the title here. Let’s just say it was good. (I guess I should go on record stating that I’m joking before I offend the world)
Who’s going to win the MLS Cup this year?
Chivas USA of course! We’re going for the quadruple.
When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
An astronaut. Space seems pretty cool. Then my mom told me that I would have to be really smart to go into space. So I changed my career path to sports blogger at the age of five.
If you had to keep your eyes locked on one position (e.g. striker, goalkeeper, etc.) for an entire game, which would it be?
Preki. Every once and a while, the dude gets angry at the officials, and I mean angry. It’s a little scary. I’m waiting for him to turn into the Incredible Hulk someday and chuck a ref across the pitch.
Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know.
So let me get this strait. Something I won’t tell my closest friends you want me to put in writing for the internet? OK… I have a invisible friend named Maykel. He scores goals.
The most games you’ve ever watched in a twenty-four hour period?
Four. One MLS (Chivas USA), one La Liga (Real Madrid), one EPL (Team America) and a FMF (Chivas Guadalajara) game. I think these leagues all play in early spring.
Morning person or night person?
Both.
Favorite national team outside of your own?
Portugal. Mexico was demoted. Too much dirty play.
Favorite TV show to watch in reruns?
Saved by the Bell. Kelly Kapowski is really hot!
Favorite current player on any team?
Guti. One of the best attacking midfielders in the world.
Favorite comfort food?
I don’t think it is comforting, but you can’t go wrong with Pizza.
“Gruesome Soccer Injuries” video. Would you watch or not?
Nah. I have enough injuries, I don’t need to see someone else’s.
Favorite sport or physical activity to participate in?
Soccer…
Best game you’ve ever seen?
Chivas USA vs. Galaxy #3 last year. Atmosphere was crazy, team played great.
Best pet you’ve ever had?
My beta. He never barks, doesn’t stay out late and laughs at all my jokes.
Favorite goalkeeper ever?
Brad Guzan. Best goalkeeper ever. Iker Casillas is #2.
What else would you like to say about yourself?
Not much about me, maybe a little about the club. Chivas USA is a great team to support. To me, the team represents the USA. It is the most diverse in the league, representing US, England, Jamaica, Switzerland, Cuba, Brazil, St Kitts and Nevis, Romania, and Mexico. The team invests in the community, youth and makes MLS better by doing so. The players are super friendly and they take time with all their fans. So c’mon to Chivas!
