The Curious Case of Thompson Nagbe

The one and only DuNord shared a link today to a story out of Africa about a Liberian named Thompson Nagbe. Among other things, the article claims that Nagbe:

Plays for the Columbus Crew in MLS
Scored 18 goals in 21 games for the Crew this year
Plays for the US U-20 national team

This is an impressive resume for a player who is not even listed on the Columbus Crew roster and by all accounts has never played a game for the US U-20 team or a game in MLS.

Is this a case of mistaken identity or is this hidden gem of a player that nobody has ever heard of and who is ready to take the world by storm or is he the next Sidd Finch?

If you have any information that could solve this mystery, inquiring minds want to hear it.

Any way am not a Liberian but i am a member of the u.s soccer team and i want to tell people that Thompson was invited on the u.s 20 team he is now in europe for a try out
Thompson so not a member of the crew soccer,Thompson was ask to played with the jr team.because the team is his age group
then from the he will be add to the crew pro team.the crew team want to know how he can act and and from the youth team he will play if he wants to.because many teams have call him but his maniger beibg turning them down because he want the kid to go to school.but one thing i can tell the liberian people the kid is one of the best youth player right now.

That's funny. FYI, no one in MLS has scored 18 goals this season, especially no one on the Crew. The leading scorer for the regular season was Jeff Cunningham (RSL) with 16.

I think they got confused and meant to type David Beckham. By law he's the only one allowed to be linked to MLS.

Based on that picture I'm guessing that he is also a member of a boy band. This guy is definitely the next big thing.
