POLL: Mark Hughes

Hours after a rousing 4-3 victory over Sunderland, Mark Hughes was terminated as Manchester City’s manager. The writing has been on the wall for some time now. With an immense investment made this past summer by the new ownership, more was expected from the great Scot Welsh Great than two wins in eleven fixtures.

In his place? Former Inter Milan coach Roberto Mancini, who becomes the first boss under the new management.

On the day the team moves up to sixth, Hughes is cut down to size. Our question to you is this: was it justified? Is it reasonable to expect more with Tevez and Adebayor at your squads helm? Or does the teams efforts speak positively for Hughes himself?

Take part in this weekends poll and let’s find out!

Were Manchester City justified in firing Mark Hughes?(answers)

  • Ian, no joke. I seriously must have just deleted 20 bath mate spams from the site, and now they're back again. And the worst part was, all of them told Daryl and Chris what amazing writers they are, and not a one was addressed to me! :-/

I hate you, bath mate. Of all the spammers that we take the time to filter out on this site, I hate you the most. I don't know why - you just suck to an entirely different level. And the name of your product is stupid.
  • He needed more time. As Steve Bruce and Arsene said, you dont build a formidable team in 18 months, esp as most of the players were bought not even 6 months ago. Man Utd, Arsenal are examples. It's a damn shame and if anybody had to be kicked out, it's Rafa.

Yes, they were justified in firing him. He was given loads of the owners' money to spend, and he utterly misspent it. 2 wins out of 11 is unacceptable for a team chasing a Champions League spot. Now, was the hiring handled poorly? Yes. Yes. Yes. Extremely. But that doesn't mean the reasoning was any less justified.

Applesauce - it was actually the German one, which will further drive readers to wikipedia!

I wonder if the Mark Hughes the Welshman was fired or only the Scottish Mark Hughes?
