There’s a lot at Steak for Paul Hartley’s Injured Foot
By: Bob | January 10th, 2007
As if playing for a lunatic owner wasn’t painful enough, Hearts midfielder Paul Hartley has had to take an unusual approach to dealing with a painful injury to his right foot. Following the advice of another pro in Scotland, Hartley played his last match against Dunfermline with a couple of steaks inside his sock with the thought that the raw meat would nourish his damaged tissues.
Said one observer: “The blood from the steak was oozing from his sock at the end but the foot didn’t give him a moment’s bother.”
Ok, that is gross. What’s next, a player stuffing a sausage down his pants?
The opposing players didn’t give him much of a bother, but one can only imagine that the neighborhood dogs on the walk home sure did. Don’t be surprised if Hartley is pursued by another meat-loving team during this transfer window.
