AC Milan’s Champions League Prize: A Fat Brazilian Striker

When AC Milan takes on Red Star Belgrade in the second leg of Champions League qualifying Tuesday, the Italian side will have more on the line than a spot in the competition’s group stages.

According to reports in Italy, if AC Milan wins and collects the $10 million it will get for making the group stages, team officials will fly to Spain after the match to start negotiating with Real Madrid and Brazil striker Ronaldo.

It is no secret that Real Madrid is willing to let the overweight striker with declining skills go and it is no secret that AC Milan is eager to add some scoring punch as it tries to claw its way through the Champions League and a season in Serie A where it will start with a point penalty for its role in Italy’s match fixing fiasco.

Why anyone would be willing to pay Ronaldo huge bucks at this point in his career is beyond us, but it does add some extra intrigue to tomorrow’s match in Belgrade.

Meanwhile, fellow match fixing fools Juventus continue to keep the lawyers in Italy employed and may once again force the Serie A season to be delayed. That might give Ronaldo more time to work his way back out of shape.

Making the move to sign Ronaldo must be strictly financial. Maybe they believe that buying a name as big as his will sell shirts and tickets they wouldn't otherwise sell.

Let's face it, if Ronaldo still wants to be world-class he might as well give up footy and focus on that competitive eating gig he's so passionate about.

Ooh, pity party for Juve!

Blahing on about how they are so important to Italian football history and it's all so disproportionate etc. eetc. is getting so old. If Serie A gets further delayed because of this legal idiocy, I suggest that all of the other teams get together and sue Juve for destroying their financial health. That may be the only way to stop this madness.
