Leonardo Bonucci Loses Respect, Earns A Little Back
By: The Offside | December 10th, 2012This is, plain as day, a horrific dive. No, a centerback needn’t finish like he’s Samuel Eto’o, but stopping short of elaborate theatrics is the least expected.
However, in the aftermath he did something so seemingly rare in football: Leonardo conceded it was a dive and accepted his punishment. Why isn’t he on Lance Armstrong’s PR team?
“I was supposed to shoot, but then I got different ideas clogged in my head,” he wrote on Twitter.
“I deserved that yellow card and set a bad example. That’ll teach me. As for the rest, it was a great victory.”
Two steps back, one step forward?
