Maradona Traps A Ball With His Ass

By: chris | May 14th, 2008

There was a charity game in Rome last night hosted by wildly popular pop artist Eros Ramazzotti. One which saw a great number of celebrities from various genres participate, and even a few footballers took part in the action. Totti coached, while Maradona and Zico participated. Diego stole the show, and proved in the process that you can in fact teach an old dog new tricks - hell, they can even invent them. Introducing the Ass Trap. Or “Hey, I just crapped a football”.

(Bum/Ass Trap aside, I most enjoyed Diego going down in the box like it was 1987. Exquisite form.)

I can’t help it. For all his faults, I love Maradona. The man is 100% id on the hoof.

I love the part where the keeper dives about five seconds after the PK went in the net.

I like the part where Maradona dives, and despite it being a charity game, rolls around as if he’s in pain to ensure the penalty. The resignation with which the ref points to the spot. “What can you do? It’s Maradona!”

Also entertaining is the fact that the foot that he tripped over was only there because the player it belonged to was too old and slow to retract it in time. Jolly good stuff.
