Playing Playstation Pays Off for Marco Amelia
By: Daryl | December 3rd, 2008
Remember Jens Lehmann’s famous penalty kick notes from World Cup 2006? It was basically a bit of paper in his sock with reminders about where Argentina’s penalty takers usually put it. Well, this past weekend Palermo keeper Marco Amelia used an updated version of those notes: Playstation. Palermo beat Milan 3-1, with Amelia saving a penalty from Ronaldinho. Here’s how Amelia says he did it:
“It was like playing against Ronaldinho on the Playstation! He did the same run-up, it was very strange!”
Credit where it’s due: this means the makers of either Pro EVo of FIFA (he didn’t specify) definitely got Ronaldinho’s run up right. And the good news for footballers is that playing Playstation can now officially be regarded as practice.
Here’s the penalty save:
But if Amelia has been playing FIFA, let’s hope he doesn’t put too much faith in their version of realiyt. Otherwise he’s going to be very confused should Italy ever have to play against Wales.
