Each year Gazzetta releases the list of Serie A salaries (post-tax) for the curious eyes of calcio fans the world over. They’ve broken down the top XI in each position above, bringing their team together for training at their Milan headquarters by only handing out two plane tickets. And you wonder why Berlusconi nearly had a coronary looking at the payroll.

The full list of all 20 teams is here for your perusal.

Is it fair that Toni earns more than Fantantonio?
  • Wow. Take a look at Cesena! 8.3 million. I wonder if they can stay up with that minimal of investment. Wouldn't it be a hoot if they did!

These numbers are pretty accurate, but they aren't perfect. For example, I don't believe for a second that Maicon is making 750,000 less this year than last year.
  • Oh but you should. I believe that he is making less salary now, but has a bigger slice of his image rights, plus more room for sponsorship. In the end, I think he is making more money, but less out of Inter's pocket. Now that he didn't go to Real Madrid, there is some talk that he will sign a contract extension and get a wage increase. Probably somewhere in the 4.5 to 5 million area.

Even with image rights and sponsorship, do you think he/Caliendo would have written into his contract a decrease in salary? I still can't see it, his wages should go up over the life of the contract (like Amauri....blah) not down.
  • Aaron, I know it seems strange, but it is like that for lots of Inter players. Eto'o went from 10.5 last season to 8 this season. Lucio is down from 4.5 to 3. Muntari down 2.5 to 2. It seems that almost everyone who signed a contract in the last couple seasons has a clause that sees it go down every year. Maybe tied to age?

Milito renewed this year so his went up, as did Julio Cesar's.

I really don't think calciatori sign contracts that drop down, unless you're old. So for Lucio, it makes sense. Muntari, not so much. And Maicon is far too young to start decreasing his wages.
  • Aaron I tend to agree with Johonna here. Perhaps this is simply due to a re-negotiation of contract terms in anticipation of Platini's financial fair-play rules. So it makes sense for Inter to try and set their books straight (good luck Moratti) while at the same time, the players get some kind of overall salary increase by exploiting their image rights. God knows that is David Beckham's biggest source of revenue, certainly not the measly (by European standards) salary LA Galaxy are paying him.
  • Is Flamini even a starter in Milan?
  • FrancescoItalyOffside
Nope. Never has and probably never will be.
  • agiamba
4.5mil is absurd for him, Allegri might actually use him.

    But he's pretty pretty poor.
  • mike
I'm guessing it's because Milan was stealing him from Arsenal via Bosman rule. They probably tried to lure him in by the money.
  • agiamba
How is it "stealing" if a player is not signed to your team? (Like how Arsenal signed Fabregas, Mannone, etc)
  • mike
My point is Milan may be trying to lure him by the money
"Arsenal are in my heart and they will be in my heart for ever,"I will always be an Arsenal fan and leaving was not easy"
    That's what he said then.
And no, Arsenal isn't my team.
  • agiamba
Luring by the money...which basically every team does?

Think 1/2 the Italian players poached by English clubs signed on because the English clubs gave their parents cushy jobs.
