It is a fitting ending to the whole affair. After weeks of rumors, speculation and lies, the Christian Chivu saga (so capably documented by Chris on the Roma Offside) has ended up where we all expected: Real Madrid Barcelona Inter Milan Ebay.
For those who haven’t been following the plight of Roma’s Romanian defender the basic gist is that the club had a transfer deal in place with Real Madrid only to have Chivu and his nefarious agents the Becali brothers squash it. He’ll play out the year with Roma before walking away for free next summer.
Now the player once beloved by Roma supporters is being auctioned by them on Ebay.
“If you make a significant offer you will see that he will follow you anywhere, until someone else offers more,” reads the rather sarcastic advertisement on E-Bay.
“Challenge Real, Barcelona and Inter! Have fun making a £3.5m offer, just to find out that he already has an agreement with another club.
“The two Becali brothers, who suck blood, are also included in the offer. No shipping costs are foreseen, all the Roma supporters will send him to you directly.”
A player being auctioned on Ebay? That is crazy. Where have we seen this before?
