Andres Iniesta’s Volley vs Racing Santander

By: Daryl | August 30th, 2010

Barcelona won 3-0 away to Racing Santander this weekend and. As Ian noted, it was a nice opening statement. However, I’m starting to get a little concerned about Andres Iniesta. Take a good long look at his second goal, above.

Something is wrong here, and I think it’s Iniesta’s body language. No one should be able to just volley a ball from outside the box and drop it perfectly into the far corner and make it look that easy. For our sake and for the sake of opposition teams, Andres Iniesta should have the good grace to at least pretend that what he just did was extremely difficult. Otherwise we’re going to have to invent a new match ball, something even more unpredictable than the Jabulani, just to make sure Andres Iniesta doesn’t get bored.

i agree with daryl...i had the same thoughts during the game...it was just like "meh, yeah, no big deal...its easy, look i take a couple steps here, bring my foot up and just lob pass it into the net, very easy, no big deal"

Where do you see his body language? They hardly show him after the goal. I think you mean he was not running around after he scored the goal.
  • His celebration, but moreso the actual technique of the volley. Very casual. It just looks so easy.
