Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better Pt. 24,807
By: chris | February 1st, 2010The incessant oneupsmanship between Barcelona and Real Madrid will never end. Not unless its found out that Real Madrid is too sleeping with its international teammate’s baby momma and booted from the squad. At the moment, Barcelona has the advantage in just about everything except money spent and toxic hair gel used. This was also the case with the assist of the year, Zlatan’s backheel onto Pedro. Real can now throw another trinket into the trophy cabinet, rendering Zlatan’s assist to second best.
The goal was scored by Karim Benzema, but it was hardly his goal. Rather the goal of a patiently blistering counter-attack and the eyes-in-the-back-of-his-head-or-maybe-just-really-really-good-peripheral-vision Guti. Yes, that Guti.
It can be forgotten that Guti, who’s been more famous recently for princessy tantrums, suitors from abroad and questions as to whether he likes princesses or princes, is actually a mighty slick passer of that little sphere.
Of course Guti got an assist on the assist from the soaked ground, which made the ball appear to have backspin and set itself on a tee, but it’s still a brilliant moment of vision…or lack thereof.
