Barcelona May Lose Dos Santos
By: Inara | September 10th, 2007
Giovani dos Santos only just made his La Liga debut and already the Premiership vultures are preparing to sweep in. The eighteen year old, often touted as the “new” Ronaldinho, will be out of contract next summer and already has a host of clubs interested in him.
Heading the queue is Manchester United, whose manager is a major collector of wonderkids.
Barcelona have so far put any rumors to rest and are preparing to offer a new contract that would increase his buyout clause, but it has been hinted that since Dos Santos signed with Barcelona before he was 18, his contract might not be legally enforceable.
While Barcelona are confident that they will tie dos Santos to a new contract, they are worried they’ll have to break the bank for him.
Maybe they could use the funds they’ll get when they sell Ronaldinho to Milan or Chelsea or any of the other super rich clubs out there that would sell their grandmother’s kidneys for a piece of ‘Dinho.

Is he really compared to Ronaldinho? If so, I can only imagine he’s compared in the sense that he could one day be Barcelona’s key player. I don’t think his playing style is in any way similar - he’s a gutsy forward minded player who rushes defenses head first, can control the ball at a remarkable pace (a la Kaka or Messi) and fire in blinding and well marked goals (like, say, Ronaldo). Sure to be a fantastic player, but I don’t see the Ronaldinho comparison.
