I'm assuming it's the same in Spanish football. If so it's a tradition that the champions get a guard of honour, but it's not an official La Liga diktat or anything. But since it's a tradition, I imagine there'd have been uproar had Barca not honoured Real. I could be wrong though. Anyone know for sure?
