Go ahead, rub it in. For those of you who might visit the Barca space over here, I have been Abidal's most vociferous defender. His pace and range enable Alves to roam, and work really well with Yaya.

But after his injury, he hasn't been the same, and that red against Villarreal was flat-out stupid. Because all he had to do was cover, and give Valdes, who was playing out of his mind, a shot. Instead he took one for the team (sort of....if you're going to foul, foul like a man), and complicated matters.

He does have quite the history of red, though the Chelsea one can be discounted, based on the Absurdity Quotient.

As long as Abidal keeps the play in front of him, he's golden. When the play gets behind him, he panics, and then he turns red. Not sure what the summer will bring for him. He doesn't get a lot of love in Barcelona, except from the sanitation workers, who were cringing at the thought of 100,000 people rolling straight out of the Camp Nou directly for La Rambla. :D

Nice post.

out of all of the pk/red calls that chelsea had thrown at the ref abidals was the least of all of them, and the only one that went through; very harsh on abidal. however, i dont disagree with or feel bad for abidal's tackle on toni although toni would've scored, regained his confidence and done better the rest of the tourny w/o it. i just hope manU crash and burn in the final.

Not only that, but it's quite possible that Barcelona are champions before they play again, if Real Madrid fail to win away at Villareal on Saturday. Barcelona would then play Mallorca on Sunday, already as champions.

If that happens, then the Barca team could be away in Mallorca (an island) while all of Barcelona celebrates... Maybe they are planning on flying to Mallorca early Sunday?
