Real Madrid Keeper: We Stink but our Breath doesn’t
By: Bob | January 12th, 2007
It has been hard to explain Real Madrid’s inconsistent play this season. At times they look like the world beaters that their high salaried team is supposed to be. At other times they look like they don’t belong on the same field as a Sunday league team. If you are a member of the media, the natural explanation for this, of course, is to blame Real’s form on their players showing up for training drunker than skunks.
At least that is the conclusion some might have jumped to following the club’s sporting director Pedja Mijatovi’s comments earlier in the week when he nebulously said, “There have been situations this season…where a player wasn’t in a proper condition to carry out his job.”
He then declined to elaborate further leaving one to speculate if he was talking about booze or if he was talking about David Beckham trying to skip work to hang out at Tom Cruise’s wedding.
Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas made it clear to the whole world Friday that his teammates aren’t like the rest of the drunks in the world who have stinky breath.
“I can assure you that no player smells of alcohol,” he told a press conference.
“Things have been taken out of context which doesn’t help anyone. I repeat: I’ve never come across a teammate with alcohol on his breath.”
Good to know that proper oral hygiene is important to at least more than one Real Madrid player.

I believe Real Madrid is about to become a much better team than it’s been for the past years, as soon as Gago gets the ball from someone…
