Robinho has a hard time remembering Real Madrid’s schedule

All in all it has been a pretty uneventful week for Robinho. It began last Wednesday when his sick moves helped Brazil spank Ecuador 5-0 in World Cup qualifying. From there it was on to a post-match celebration where he was in desperate need of 40 condoms. That was followed by a missed flight back to Spain and a fine for missing Real Madrid’s game against Espanyol on Saturday followed by a terrific two-goal performance in the Champions League on Wednesday. Ho hum. Life can be such a grind.
On Thursday, Robinho stepped in front of the cameras and microphones to talk about the week that was and to explain why he was late making it back to Real Madrid. It had nothing to do with the party, of course.
“I have talked with the boss (Real coach Bernd Schuster) who was very unhappy that I came back (to Madrid) late. I hope I don’t make the same mistake again,” added the contrite Brazilian.
“In Brazil, there were a lot of problems with the planes and I also thought that Real’s game was on the Sunday not Saturday but the responsibility for this is also mine.
“It was a complicated week but in the end it finished well. There were a lot of things said which were not true but in the end I gave my answer on the field,” added Robinho.
Did he really just say that he didn’t know which day Real Madrid was playing? That excuse hasn’t been made since second period when little Jimmy told his teacher that he thought the book report was due on Wednesday instead of Tuesday. It is a shame seeing someone as talented as Robinho take the same path as Adriano and others before him. If the dude really put his mind to it he probably could score 40 times. On the pitch, that is.

I really don’t want to make excuses for Robinho–he’s quickly turning into a whiny diva when he hasn’t yet earn the right to think he can act that way (in other words, he’s not Ronaldinho).
BUT…because of the television rights wars going on in Spain right now, the schedules for the matches have constantly changed, sometimes changing dates a couple of days before the match. Since Real Madrid was playing a Wednesday Champions League match, last year that would have meant them playing a Sunday La Liga match, with Barcelona and their Tuesday CL match playing in La Liga the Saturday before. So it’s not really that much of a stretch of the imagination to believe he got the day wrong. But all he had to do was have his agent or one of his other flunkies call the club, so it’s still not that credible.

It appears that somebody told Riquelme, that if he wants out of Villareal, he must scrub Robinho’s bits.
