Well it’s clear from the video he was phenomenal. Not sure where there was any implication other than almost poking fun at Canizares’ replacement dropping the ball. Literally.

I concur with john — excluding this mistake, Hildebrand made some *amazing* saves. For a time, the game was simply Atletico against Hildebrand, and Timo was winning.

Yeah, big time gaffe, and inexcusable from a professional perspective. But… if you watched the match you’d know that Hildebrand made some absolutely SPECTACULAR saves before the said blooper – the one that, yes, cost Valencia the match (that and their own inability to convert – with Zigic twice hitting the post). So yes, big, game changing mistake. But overall, great keeping by Hildebrand.
