Villarreal and Atlético’s Eight Goal Thriller

Some cracking action in La Liga this past weekend with Villarreal and Atlético Madrid splitting eight goals down the middle at the Madrigal. Atlético were two up through Simao and Forlan after 22 minutes, only for Villarreal to swing things around to lead 4-2 going into the last ten minutes with goals from Marcos Senna, Joseba Llorente, Gonzalo and Giuseppe Rossi.

But then it was Atlético’s turn to come back. Simao scored again in the 83rd and Raúl García in the 84th to make the final score 4-4. Great stuff if you love a goalfest. But with both Atletico and Villarreal surrendering two goal leads it was probably a confusing day to be a fan of either team.
