Name To Remember: 7 Year Old Soufiane – ‘The New Madin’.

By: chris | April 16th, 2009

Remember Madin Mohammed? So yesterday. To the extent that there’s already a new version.

Meet Soufiane. He’s seven years old – only just seven at that – and he’s better at football than you. Like Madin and that Zidane character (along with Nasri, Benzema, etc), Soufiane was born in France of Algerian parentage, which begs the question: why the hell isn’t Algeria a world powerhouse? They clearly want for nothing in the genes department.

I’m not going to bother assessing the skill set of a seven year old, but he clearly enjoys putting on a show and technically, at his age, he’s lapped the field. Plus he’s already got the headband thing down, which is at least half the battle to becoming a proper professional footballer.

Of course the most boggling of all is his birthday: 29.01.2001. 2001. It’s almost beyond comprehension, really. Are we going to reach a point where a kid is a nothing talent if he doesn’t have a YouTube compilation by the time he hits ten?

And I think somewhere Arsene’s ticker just gave out. Still a solid five years from puberty and he speaks French? Be still his aching heart.

This is probably going to come off as racist, but won’t there ever be French talent of french descent?

There many middle eastern people in France?

I don’t think its racist. I think your right. I am a Mexico fan and i have some criticism towards US Soccer. I dont get how a country like this (which i am part of since i am mexican-american) doesnt’t follow the example of france. Most players are from descent from good footballing nations. Hejduk, Bocanegra, Mastroeni, Torres, Ching (like most of Hawaii haha), Bornstein, Klejstan, and Altidore. Yet they stick to their defensive way of play. With so many people from different backgrounds, this team should be one of the best in the world in a few years and i dont think Bob Bradley is the right guy to do this. He is in love with his tactics. He doesn’t see how special this team is.

Talia I wrote that because of the riots some years ago. I was about to go off on a tangent.

It’s racist. They are born and raised in France, they’re french. Especially when it comes from an American where few if any have true “American” lineages or can even trace their lineage above pseudo-European mutt.

Amazing how much the presence of melanin makes people doubt the idea of natural born citizen.

And I would guess that it all comes down to infrastructure especially for youth teams.

Cerberus I just meant French descent. Take it how you want to take it, you Napoleon lineage is still around? I meant that french, not some random French people who get it on and enroll their kid to an academy.Example, some Barcelona stars have family like Pique who is related to Santiago Bernabeu.

Don’t preach tolerance when you don’t give someone a fair shot at an explanation. Be all high and mighty calling people outright racists, sense the irony?
