US U-23 Training Camp
By: Laurie | December 6th, 2007
The US U-23 team started training camp this week in preparation for what could be a long, tough road to Olympic qualifying.
Twenty-two players took the field for training at the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles, and they’re arguably one of the strongest teams the US has ever fielded. Twenty of the players play professionally — eighteen in MLS and two in Europe, nine graduated from the U-17 residency program, and seven have played for the full US Men’s National Team.
The team will need that strength just to get through qualifying, because in March they’ll be fighting with seven other teams for just two CONCACAF spots at the Olympics.
Before that happens, though, the team will be on the road for a two-match tour in China, played against the Chinese U-23 National team. Games will be on December 13 in Changsha and December 16 in Guangzhou.
USSoccer.com has a nice photo gallery, of practices, so be sure to stop by and check it out.
If you have any changes to this roster that I didn’t catch, leave them in the comments. Thanks!
