Photo of the Day: Well Done, Frank
By: chris | April 30th, 2008
Regardless of how you feel about Chelsea or Frank Lampard himself, it was hard not to feel good for Frank when he scored his penalty after losing his mother just six days ago. It was something to see him just in the starting lineup, much less score a goal and play 120 minutes. Worthy of his applause. (Adrian Dennis/AFP/Getty Images)

My heart really was racing – as a neutral – when he stepped up because obviously it would have been horrible had he missed. Wonderful moment.

Funny, I used the same pic for my photo of the day — except I chose a horizontal.

Edit: vertical. I’m still high from the match.

Fantastic moment. Especially considering all the abuse he’s taken over the last couple of years. And what a match.

Yeah, not a Chelsea fan by a mile, but it was great to see Lampard play and then score. Good for him.

Lampard is one of the few footballers you’d be happy to go out and have a drink with. No matter who you support, he always appears to be a top bloke and I’m extremely happy for him that he scored – it evidently meant alot. Well done Frank. We’ll see you in the final!

I hate Chelsea (hardcore United fan), and usually hate Lampard too, BUT it was hard to hold back the tears for him when he hit that penalty. Real courage, real character – even to be playing after such a loss is amazing, but to show such a cool head at that point of the game, that’s something special. Good on you, Frank.

Got to agree with all of you.
I depise Chelski and English football as a whole.
But when he hit that penalty and pointed to the sky with tears in his eyes… Man… Thats the stuff that gets ya in the gut…
Kudos Lampard.
