Adriano Facing Lengthly Ban for Doing a Zidane

By: Daryl | February 12th, 2008

This is how famously troubled São Paolo loan star Adriano got himself sent off against Santos on Sunday. He goes nose to nose with Santos defender Domingo, but then can’t resist giving it the extra head movement that transforms brief and silly confrontation into lengthly and serious suspension.

It’s not quite a Zidane. Doesn’t have the same commitment as Zizou’s charge at Matrix. And as headbutts go it’s really nothing special. Probably won’t make the pages of “Headbutt Connoisseur Monthly.” But it could land Adriano with a domestic ban of somewhere between 120 to 540 days, which isn’t very helpful when you’re on loan from Inter and trying to prove you’ve still got it.

Mm. That was more like he was trying to shove him with his head.
