Barcelona and LDU Brawl in Ecuador

That is Barcelona’s Leonardo Soledispa lying in the ground looking like he is in a world of hurt. Soledispa was on the losing end of a brawl that took place after the final whistle was blown in a match involving his club and Liga Deportiva Universitaria in Ecuador. Soledispa was reportedly kicked while on the ground and had to go to the hospital for treatment. The melee is captured in the video below.

There are a few things worth noting in this video. Of course there is the silly violence involving the two teams and the chaos that is always so captivating when you see football players try to use their hands when it is so obvious that they have never thrown a punch before in their lives, but that is nothing compared to the new disturbing trend that can only be described as the YouTube Syndrome. This involves ordinary citizens everywhere filming their television sets. Seriously, who the fuck has the time and desire to film their own television just so they can post things on the Internet for the rest of the world to see?

God bless all the depraved people out there for providing this service, especially when the television picture is a bit unreal looking to begin with and when there is the added entertainment of things like a parrot squawking in the background, while the guy holding the camera shouts something like Dios! You are all worthy of the title of Person of the Year.

Do we all get some kind of monetary reward for being named Person of the Year? I've done more than my fair share of Internet surfing at work this year and feel it is only right that I get compensated.
