Boca Juniors’ Martin Palermo Scores a 52-Meter Goal

If there is a more emphatic way to close out a match than I haven’t seen it. With his team playing with 10 men and leading Independiente 2-1 in the 94th minute on Saturday, Boca Juniors forward Martin Palermo unleashed this blast from beyond the midfield line to stun Independent goalkeeper Oscar Ustari, making an early claim on the goal of the season in the Argentina Apetura and sending a distraught Ustari off the field in tears.

It was 62 meters long, cause of the inclination of the ball and the angle. The TV show "FĂștbol de Primera" (which means first divission football -soccer-) analyzed the goal and calculated the lenght.

Very similar to David Beckham's strike against Wimbledon for Manchester United, but possibly better, as Palermo reacted very quickly and shot almost on the turn. Fantastic goal!
