Chilean Soccer Players aren’t very good Hotel Guests

By: Bob | July 11th, 2007

prostitute1.jpgChile were booted out of the Copa America by Brazil 6-1 last week, but at least they had a good time in the process. Six players from the team have been suspended by the country’s football federation for a whopping 20 games because their preparation for the Brazil match included an evening at their hotel in which they got drunk, trashed a hotel room and verbally abused female hotel staff members. Chile coach Nelson Acosta was also canned for letting it all happen under his watch.

Not to be outdone by their senior side, the Chilean U-20 World Cup team has also had some fun at their hotel in Canada. This story comes from reader Serge who translated it from Spanish to aid all of us who can’t say anything more than “Yo quiero una cerveza”.

Scandal in the World Youth Cup in Canada

The Under-20 Chilean National side, playing the World Youth Cup in Canada were involved in an ugly incident at their hotel (Westin Hotel Toronto).
Late last week, players were getting ready to go to bed when 6 to 8 women barged into Alexis Sanchez’s room and jumped onto his bed and started hugging him and jumping around.

Other players noticed this and went to help Alexis throw the women out, but they wouldn’t leave.

Some of the ‘ladies’ went out to the corridor and started knocking on other players rooms.

They finally left and went to the 16th floor of the hotel. (The young Chilean side is on the 14th floor). But they came downstairs again.

This time a confrontation happened in the corridor when Alexis appeared and was smacked in the eye, by one of the ‘ladies’.
Jorge Tornero (team director) arrived and was also aggrieved and pushed around.

The women went upstairs and came down again, this time with 2 men (pimps?) who were wanting “revenge” because the women were kicked out of the 14th floor.

There was trouble all night until things calmed down at 6am in the morning.

It seems the women had details on what players to target.

Players where indicating that no women where left in any players rooms, “by mistake”.

The players, coach and directors of the young Chilean side confirmed days later that a “bold Italian” man of 45 years had rented a room on the 16th floor of the hotel and had all the women there.

The players confirm that no one had rang up for the ladies.

An official complaint is being made to FIFA in regards to bad security measures.

It is hard to imagine having 6 to 8 women burst into your hotel room and jump into your bed. Well, probably not hard for Lionel Messi to imagine. He calls that Wednesday night.

You know Liverpool-haters around the world were praying that Mark Gonzales was one of the ones suspended.

Bald Italian man…could it be Berlusconi? Could this all be part of some ill conceived Milanese plot? I, for one, am mighty suspicious.

I’m fairly sure Lawrence Taylor was involved in this somehow.
