Chile’s U-20 team will remember its Canadian Vacation
By: Bob | July 20th, 2007
It has been quite a couple of weeks in Canada for Chile’s U-20 World Cup squad. They had a nice run to the semifinals of the tournament. They had a nice run in with some women of the night and their pimp. And now they have had a nice run in with the Canadian police.
After being bounced from the tournament by Argentina in a match that featured a couple of ejections and more cards than in a playing deck, the Chilean players chased after the referee after he blew the final whistle. Their anger didn’t stop there. It spilled over to the team bus outside the stadium in Toronto where they got into it with the po-po.
“Next thing you know, the bus just unloads and there’s eight, 10 players come off the bus and there’s just fists flying everywhere, between the cops, the security guards, a couple of ladies were involved that were security,” said reporter Nathan Denette.
“It looked like a big dogfight. People throwing fists and cops with their billyclubs out and then all of a sudden it got out of control.”
A police officer then Tasered one of the people in the melee though it was unclear if he was a player or an official with the Chilean team.
If only they had shown as much fight in their 3-0 loss!
After handcuffing the players and taking them back to the locker room where presumably their punishment was to watch video of their performance in the game, the police let them go without making any arrests.
