Columbian Player Gives “Dive” New Meaning.

By: chris | December 2nd, 2008

This may be the dive that finally puts the Alberto Gilardino ode to Greg Louganis to shame. This clown, Emerson Acuna, of Atletico National in Columbia, is lassoed by the imaginary cowboy without a defender in spitting distance. But to make a bad situation worse, Helen Keller was refereeing the match and someway, somehow managed to award the penalty. Acuna looked to have been offside as well. All of which may make this the worst three second sequence in the history of the sport. God I love this game.

I thought the video was just showing a very bad dive…. But surely thats one of the worst refereeing decisions ever?!?!? And the linesman surely had a good enough view for at least one of them to realise somethings wrong.

And, as nobobomo said, how could they celebrate?!?! I hope that the opposing team complained and the ref and/or linesman was demoted to kids football!!!!

Is this dude serious? Is that dude serious? Is the other dude with the flag serious? This has to be a joke.

And kids’ football? Nah, this guy should be shipped off into space where he will hopefully never influence another sport again.

I am so glad the maker of the video clearly pointed out who was the “defender” and who was the “cheater” in the situation. I think I just would have been so confused otherwise.

I don’t know guys… I heard that the pitch was built on an ancient burial ground, and perhaps one of the spirits didn’t like that guy, and brought him down, thinking that the referee would book the guy for diving…

But the referee knew what was going on, and he made sure to punish those spirits by awarding the penalty…

i say we give this referee the Ballon d’Or

Argh, this video makes my head hurt. The ref is RIGHT THERE! Did the defender use a blow dart? Was the linesman on shrooms? So many things wrong with this…..
That man has BALLS. To dive right in front of the ref, with no defenders to be found, while OFFSIDE, I’m just….flabbergasted. Good show, cheater.

Of course it was a player from Atletico Nacional that cheated. They definitely paid off the ref like they did when Escobar owned the team.

Was he offside? I feel like he might have timed that run perfectly, which of course only makes the dive more despicable. Others seem convinced he was miles offside.

Do you think that they’ll use this video as evidence to the seriousness of the foul and give that nasty defender a 4- or 5-match ban??

    Hahaha…made my day.
