Gremio Fans attack Internacional Director but don’t set him on Fire

gremio.jpgOn the outside, fans of the Brazil club Gremio might appear to be as warm and as sweet as the one pictured here, but don’t let that smile and that skimpy pair of panties and those wonderful breasts and those legs and, well, ignore that picture entirely and just remember that they can be less than pleasant folk. Just ask the director of their archrivals Internacional, who was attacked by 50 Gremio after getting off a flight at Porto Alegre airport on Thursday.

The Internacional directors were returning from a ceremony in Brasilia honoring their club for winning the world club championship when they ran into a pack of Gremio fans who were at the airport waiting to welcome goalkeeper Sebastian Saja, recently signed from Argentine club San Lorenzo.

“It was an act of cowardice,” Internacional president Victorio Piffero told reporters. “I hope the airport authorities have film of this so the supporters can be identified.”

Former Internacional president Fernando Carvalho, who was also with the delegation, said he was kicked and hit on the head, said he was kicked and hit on the head during the confusion. There were no reports of injuries or arrests.

We’re all aware by now that airports in South America can be dangerous for both players and fans alike, and now we can add club directors to that list as well. Piffero and his Internacional posse can only be thankful that the Gremio fans didn’t have any portable toilets on hand during the attack.
