Here’s Why You Don’t Get in the Way of a Roberto Carlos Slide Tackle

By: Daryl | January 21st, 2010

I’ve started to become suspicious of football headlines I find on the internet, which often promise a lot more than they deliver. So when I saw the headline Roberto Carlos Takes Out Three Players With One Sliding Tackle on 101GG, I was prepared to be disappointed. Because no one can take out three players with one sliding tackle, can they?

Turns out Bobby Carlos can.

OK, so it’s slightly disappointing, because the image in my head after reading the headline was three opposition players who were actually in the game, rather than one attacker and two subs. But still, it’s a mighty impressive accomplishment, and a fine way for Roberto Carlos to mark his debut for Corinthians (yes, the same Corinthians that Ronaldo plays for) and his return to domestic Brazilian football, a full decade and a half after he left for Europe.

Laurie, just keep the picture of how cleanly he got the ball and everything else will fall away in a glow of happiness. Actually, anything you think about Roberto Carlos should do that. I am SO happy he is back in a league that is deemed worthy of being included in highlights by any footy news I have access to. Keep going sweet man!
