Internacional Sets Copa Libertadores on Fire
By: Bob | August 17th, 2006
Brazilian club Internacional emerged from the smoke to capture the Copa Libertadores trophy last evening. Internacional played Sao Paulo to a 2-2 draw in the second leg of the final, which combined with a 2-1 victory in the first leg earns them the title and a spot in the FIFA Club World Championship in Japan later this year. Shocking as it may seem, the game was suspended for a few minutes because of the dense smoke caused by flares, fireworks and other objects set on fire in the stands. After the jump, there is video of the four goals scored last evening.

This was a very entertaining match, and Inter deserved to finally lift the Libertadores Cup. Were it not for a few precious mistakes made by Sao Paulo in the attacking and defensive ends, and the story could had been different. All in all an extremely entertaining match, especially the end, with Sao Paulo attacking and Inter holding on to the win.
Cheers,
Carlos
