Rogerio Ceni Sets another Record with Medal Toss

cenishut.jpgOne of our favorite goalkeepers in the entire universe is Sao Paulo’s Rogerio Ceni. How can you not like a keeper who is more of a scoring threat than most strikers? If it were up to us we would require every team to have their keepers take free kicks.

Ceni made history again last night after his team lost to Boca Juniors in the final of the Recopa Sudamericana tournament. After receiving his runner-up medal, the third time his team such has finished as a bridesmaid this season, the keeper did his best javelin impersonation by tossing it into the stands. You’ll probably be able to find it for sale on Ebay today if it didn’t immediately melt from the flares in the stands.

We’re not sure how far the actual toss measures, but the folks at Guinness will surely have to recognize it as the longest throw by a losing goalkeeper in the history of South American football tournaments.

Yep, we like Rogerio, but probably not enough to tattoo an image of him on our stomach.
