The Manual On How Not To Defend, by Sport Recife.

By: chris | November 11th, 2009

This video quickly goes from the worst non-offside call in history to the worst offside trap in history to the worst goalkeeping in history. In essence this video should have all its copies burn and rid from the earth so as to avoid being viewed by a young, impressionable footballer.

There are three clips: in the first you will see a Palmeiras striker, Danilo, score a goal with enough time, despite roughly 47 Recife defenders in the box with him, to father a small family between receiving and firing; in the second, you will notice another defender an easy 6 yards from his teammates playing 4 Palmeiras players offside; and finally, you will see the keeper, presuming Danilo will be called offside despite being held yards on, simply stop playing.

The team picture then rushes the referee in an uproar. Perhaps they should’ve rush the club department in charge of mental preparedness.

This is terrible reporting. If you listen carefully to the video, you will notice that the referee blew his whistle to [incorrectly] call an offside, prompting Sport’s defense to stop. The referee noticed that the sideline ref did not have his flag raised, and then absurdly allowed the goal. Come on, the title of the Youtube video is “Lost referee makes mistake and harms Sport.” It’s all over the Brazilian sports media.

One thing is more than clear- the ref should move to Korea and wind up drinking in a bar with a certain WC 2002 ref… .

Oh, I’m sorry–it’s a blog, so it has the license to spread misinformation. My bad!

Well none of that was available when this went up directly after the game. It happens.

Goalkeeper’s off the hook, but it’s still the worst offside trap known to man.

it is, probably, the first case in history of a ref who did wrong by doing right and did right by doing wrong.
