The Tevez Dance Ends at West Ham
By: Bob | August 31st, 2006
Just like you, the first thing we normally do in the morning is wake up and check out Carlos Tevez’s personal website. We like to keep track of what he did the night before, what he ate, who he sang with and to learn his thoughts about nuclear nonproliferation.
When we went to Carlitos’ site this morning, we had to do a double take when we saw that he had posted an announcement about his future playing plans:
Carlitos Tevez, along with his team-mate Javier Mascherano, signs a contract to play for West Ham United of England.
We ignored the third person reference and instead thought that surely something had been lost in translation. There is no way that two of Argentina’s best players could possible have escaped the claws of the bigger English clubs and have ended up a West Ham, right?
Apparently not. The Corinthians pair has been loaned to West Ham for one year, a move that suddenly makes matches at Uptown Park slightly more interesting to watch and a move that undoubtedly will leave fans of slumping Arsenal in a slump of their own today.
The kicker, of course, is that this is only a loan for this season so probably around this time next year we’ll be back reading Tevez’s website, hoping to find out if he will be playing for Arsenal or Chelsea or maybe even Millwall.
UPDATE: The deal is permanent and the world has stopped spinning.

16.15 in London and West Ham haven’t announced anything officially yet, maybe Arsene is making a late raid on Tevez.

Heavens, please no Tevez-to-Millwall jokes. I can’t take it, even in jest.
But, wow, yeah, that seemed to come out of nowhere. The Hammers? Um, okay.

This is just a way for Chelsea to park these two players in a mid-level club, let them get used to playing in London so Chelsea can have its pick of them next summer:
