The Very Definition of “Taking One for the Team”
By: chris | February 16th, 2009Fellas, turn away. This has got to be the most painful penalty ever won – and if not the most painful, at least in the top three (or bottom three, as it were).
Fluminense keeper Fernando Henrique, who infamously wins the only penalty I’ve ever seen a keeper win and is surely among only a select few at best, decides he doesn’t like just whatever the America player does in the box and throws a looping right hook right directly into the kibbles ‘n bits of his now-sporano opponent. That’s a penalty no player wants to win if ever there was one. Especially when on the wrong side of a 2-1 scoreline.
And as the spotlight continues to shine on Brazilian refereeing….how does the ref see that well enough to call the penalty but decide not to award a red card? That’s at least two red cards – one for each testicle which can no longer produce children.

how does the ref (…) decide not to award a red card?
Maybe the keeper was just trying to clear the ball(s). Apparently he succedeed.
