Today’s Lesson: Don’t Mess with Lanus

hinchada_lanus3.jpgI’ve never been to Lanus, Argentina, but I can advise you that if you ever find yourself there you might want to wear the colors of the local football team, Club Atletico Lanus. Fans of Lanus don’t take too kindly to those who don’t support their team, whether it is airport security officials or a policeman.

The policeman in question has been suspended ten days after causing a near riot with Lanus fans. His offense? He cheered an opposing team’s goal while patrolling the Lanus stadium during a match. The home fans did not welcome this law enforcement manuever and pelted the officer with objects they normally reserve for referees, opposing players and handicapped orphans.

Lanus, which was the one-time home of the Ogre, operates a number of sporting programs. Don’t even think about messing with their yoga club.
